The Gran Premio Motociclistico d’AragonaAragon Motorcycle Grand Prix, better known as the Aragon MotoGP, is one of the four MotoGPs held in Spain, along with those in Spain, Catalonia, and Valencia. Although it may not boast the same history as its "compatriots", it is still one of the most appreciated events in the Motorcycle World Championship.

Aragon MotoGP: Where It Takes Place

The Aragon MotoGP takes place in Aragona, an autonomous community located in northeastern Spain, and more precisely in the town of Alcañiz, where the ciudad del Motor de Aragón circuit is located.

Aragon MotoGP Circuit: Features

The ciudad del Motor de Aragón, also known as Motorland Aragón, was inaugurated in 2009, being one of the "younger" circuits in the Motorcycle World Championship.

5km long, Motorland Aragón features two long straights that allow riders to go full throttle. These straightaways are balanced by 18 turns:this mix makes the Aragon circuit one of the most exciting in the Motorcycle World Championship.

Aragon MotoGP: History and Trivia

The addition of this latest Iberian stage in the Motorcycle World Championship dates back to 2010, when the Alcañiz circuit was chosen to "fill the gap" left by the MotoGP of Hungary, plagued by delays in the construction of the Balatonring circuit. Since then, the Aragon MotoGP has become a regular (almost regular, as we will see shortly) event in the Motorcycle World Championship. 

Here are some interesting facts about the circuit and the Aragon MotoGP:

In 2023, the now traditional appointment with the Aragon MotoGP was skipped because it was decided not to hold more than three races in Spain. However, 2024 marks the grand return of Motorland Aragón in the Motorcycle World Championship.

The Aragon MotoGP is marked by the overwhelming dominance of the Spanish rider Marc Marquez, Marc Marquez, who has gained a total of 5 victories on this track.

Honda undoubtedly outclasses other racing teams in Aragon, thanks to its 12 wins across different categories.
