French MotoGP: Where It Takes Place

France MotoGP currently takes place at the Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans, a town in the Loire region whose name is inextricably linked to the world of motorsports.

Le Mans MotoGP Circuit: Features

The Bugatti Circuit, named in honor of the Italian designer and entrepreneur Ettore Bugatti, founder of the Bugatti automobile brand, was opened in 1966 and has hosted numerous Motorcycle World Championship races in addition to a Formula 1 Grand Prix. It is a technical track, with many medium to high-speed turns.

Designed to host other events in addition to the classic 24 Ore di Le Mans, the Bugatti Circuit is just over 4 km long and includes 14 turns. It shares the iconic Dunlop Bridge with the 24 Hours' Circuit de La Sarthe..

French MotoGP: History and Trivia

The French Motorcycle Grand Prix dates back to 1920 when it was first held in Le Mans, but only since 1951 this race has been part of the Motorcycle World ChampionshipOver time, it has changed locations several times: Albi, Rouen, Reims, Clermont-Ferrand, Le Castellet, Nogaro… with various editions held in Le Mans, which has been the permanent home of the French GP since 2000.

Here are some interesting facts about the circuit and the Le Mans MotoGP:

The Dunlop Bridge at Le Mans is the oldest of the many bridges placed by the historic tire brand at numerous circuits around the world still standing: its construction dates back to 1932.
The rider with the most victories at the French GP is Italian Giacomo Agostini (three in the 350cc category and four in 500cc).
